No Sophmore Slump Here

When  you start a new project the first six months can be a flurry of accomplishments and reaching the end of the first year and looking way back to when you started is almost always very satisfying.  But how about the second year and beyond?  Obviously when you first begin working on a website and there has been very little or no optimization at all it is easy to show stellar value to your client but after the first year things can really slow down and you have to be careful not to get caught up in a sophmore slump!  Here is a recently completed year over year for the 2nd year

2nd year over year ss

One thing that is important in order to avoid a let-down the second year is to keep your client educated and manage expectations.  Make sure they understand that they might see smaller gains percentage wise in the second year but you will be adding additional value by driving more qualified traffic, possibly to inner pages where they may convert better.  You can also add into the mix, social media marketing, PPC, banner advertising and even look into some more advanced digital marketing techniques like buidling a supporting network, viral advertising and even dabble in some offline marketing to support your online efforts.

As you can see above our 2nd year has gone well and that does not even take into consideration the large number of clicks that have been steered over to our Google Places listings.  This coming year is very exciting and I am managing a complete site redesign/redevelopment and will keep everyone updated.
